That is never going to fit into our luggage allowance
‘That is never going to fit into our luggage allowance.’
- Richard Hamerton-Stove
I have a bit of a reputation when it comes to carrying unruly items home from holiday. From America alone I’ve managed a 12 piece setting of Mississippi pottery, a chandelier, large paintings and a Pottery Barn child’s kitchen. I love the challenge of puzzling items carefully into my luggage and unpacking on the other side to discover they are intact and totally unique. Lately, I find myself wondering about the bother and considering a courier company, but one last time (yea right) I have packed and ‘muled’ my treasures half way around the world. This time it’s not for my home, but yours! We’ve scoured America for the quirkiest Christmas ornaments around, and they’ll be available to buy in the shop as of 10 October.
Last October half term we went glamping in Wales with some friends. The kids have been begging to go back this October and whilst glamping in late October may not sound like the finest of brainwaves, Drovers Rest is the Ritz of glamping. Picture stylish safari tents, soft Welsh blankets (some electric!), wood burners and private family bathrooms. But the best bit is the super cool party barn, where people gather to eat, hang out and play table tennis. The poured cement floor and oyster bucket light fixtures ‘had me at hello.’ With gorgeous walks and the book- chic shops of Hay-on-Wye at your doorstep, it’s an autumn dream come true.
